Kuala Lumpur, 2nd Jan 2010– Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE worldwide Kuala Lumpur today brought cheer to 142 children from the poor community in Sentul Kuala Lumpur. These children no longer go to school because they feel embarrassed with their worn out school uniform. Each child received 2 pairs of school uniform, shoes, bag and stationaries at MYDIN USJ. All of the children are part of the beneficiaries of Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE school sponsorship program for the poor.

“We have been giving school provision to the needy for the past 7 years and have helped many to stay in school” says Darick Wong, Country Director. “In the past, some families stopped their children’s schooling as a result of insufficient funds to buy their children’s school needs” says Wong.

We are glad to be partnering with Staedtler Malaysia and Mydin USJ for this year’s school sponsorship program. Staedtler Malaysia sponsored stationeries and monetary funding for this program, raised during the World Kids Coloring Day in May 2009. “As part of our contribution to social corporate responsibilities worldwide, we are very touched and motivated by our success as sponsor to this event with HOPE Worldwide KL.” says Daniel Lim, General Manager, Sales & Marketing Staedtler Malaysia.

Mydin USJ, has been hosting this school sponsorship event for the past 4 years, including luncheon, for all the beneficiaries and volunteers of HOPE worldwide during the event.

Pn Zairina 37, expressed her gratitude, as this program helped ease her financial difficulties every year and enable her two children to stay in school. Her RM400 salary is not even enough to support their daily expenses, what more her children’s school needs.
