School Bags distribution with Cargill (M) Sdn. Bhd.

On the 04 December 2010, we have the fellow staff workers of Cargill, all the way here, at our Sentul Clinic of HOPE, just to be with the children, and most importantly, is to give these children an early festive gift - School Bags.

Probably for you and me, who've been raised up in an above average family, to get a school bag is just so easy. Nevertheless, for the underprivileged children, to have a new school bag, is consider a luxurious treat. Therefore, on behalf of the children at Sentul community, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Cargill (M) Sdn Bhd, for doing this to the children, and I believed they were all in great joy and gratitude as well.

That was indeed a great day! And the Managing Director Mr. Thomas Polhill was there to be with the children too. Despite distributing the school bags to the children, the staffs from Cargill too, brought along some stickers and other little gifts to the children. Thus, we have snacks, and right after the School Bag distribution, we all proceed to have Reading Program together. All the staffs got to join to be a volunteer facilitator, and they enjoyed themselves to teach the children in reading English, especially the Sales & Marketing Director, Mr. Phang Yew Wai, he was so excited and the children liked him very much.

MY Reading Program @ Sentul on 27 November 2010

Last Saturday, we have friends who came to help, as a volunteer facilitator to MY Reading Program. They are Yew Chong and Dee Lin.

This is the second time they were here. What amazed me is their serving heart and love towards the children.

As years came along, we had indeed a great numbers of volunteers. Our friendship all started from the simplicity inside our heart. We came to help, to serve and to love, without looking for own benefits.

2010 had almost come to an end, and MY Reading Program been growing from strength to strength, and during the month of October to November, we even expand this mission to Johor Bahru, Seremban, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, and we looking forward to more places, as we know, there are still a lot more needy children who needs our help.

Here's some pictures to share,

This batch of children in MY Reading Program will graduate on 7th December 2010, and we have specially organize a Farewell Party for them~! Thus, our very last MY Reading Program with them will be on 04 December 2010.

For next year - 2011, we gonna have new children coming in, and kick start another new chapter of MY Reading Program in Sentul, KL!

THANKS for all the Volunteer Facilitator who worked with us before. MY Reading Program will not be possible without having your time and effort!

One bright sunny morning on 19 November 2010, we have a team of young boys (age between 15 to 17) from Raffles Water Polo Institute here with us, to do housekeeping for Sentul Clinic of HOPE and the Art Class Center.

This is in aid of their Community Service Project for year 2010, and at the same time, they had just finished their training trip all the way from Malacca, the historical city to Kuala Lumpur.

The team led by Coach Mr. Anthony. According to him, this is indeed a great experience for this urban boys to learn to roll on their sleeves and serve. As nowadays, young boys at their age, often obsessed with video games, internet, else, they will be much occupied with their academic.

Besides doing housekeeping, the boys also get to be a Librarian, to tidy up and re-categorize the books in our Mini Library located at the Art Class Centre, which is next to the Clinic of HOPE.

Thanks for the boys and Coach Mr. Anthony, we hope to see you guys again! Maybe can join in our MY Reading Program and have fun time with the underprivileged children!

Part of the event, was a "TRUE STORY SHARING" by a breast cancer patient, a lady with 2 kids, who is now still undergoing the chemotherapy. She had been through a lot of hardships, and yet, she is still tough and positive, standing here to share her story with inspiration. One of the dummies used by the doctors in educating the women on doing checking of breasts by their own.

Overall, EMPOWERED had done a great job, in creating this awareness, especially for this group underprivileged people. As to let them know, being poor, is not an excuse for not aware of our health, they too have a right to live a healthy lifestyle. Having a healthy body, is one of the key factor for them to continue to work, and earn a living, in order to raise the next generation.

Million thanks to all fellow volunteers for being there from early morning till the finishing of the event!
