In conjunction with the launched of Thistle Hotel on the 15th July 09 ( a UK Group of Hotels) at Port Dickson, Ode to Art gallery (In KL & Singapore) hosted a charity Auction in Aid of HOPEww and United Voice. The glamorous event were officiated by the Minister of Tourism, YB Dato Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen. A million of thanks to Ode to Art who donated two world renown art pieces and proceed to the 7 other art piece were donated to the two charity.

Art pieces such by world famous artist & sculpture such as Kendell, Coplu, Jean Francois Debongnie, Steve Johnston and Lim Thian Seng, were up for grab with the highest bidder. Thanks to generous donor who attended the event, snap up all the picture, raising a total of RM118,400 and proceed which amount to RM39,400 each were donated to HOPEww & United Voice.

HOPEww would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to all the generous donor who bits for the painting and Jazz Chong, Jane & Renee from ode to art who donated the painting for the auction. Last but not least, celebrity host, Terence Dass & Angelene Chong for doing a spectacular MCing the auction.

On 10th of July 09, Adidas Malaysia, as part of their continuous effort to encourage community growth and development, has taken their effort to a higher level by joining forces with HOPE Worldwide.

In this instance, Adidas are providing much needed aid in the form of basic groceries to impoverished communities living around Sentul. The food distribution program is part of HOPE Worldwide's strategy in executing sustainable development for the poor and needy.

Happy Birthday

My son, Kennard, is indeed growing. I am extremely proud of him as a dad, the way he has grown and this year his birthday wish was to celebrate this day with the children from the slum of Sentul. On the 27 of June, a total 20 children from the poor family came and enjoy a birthday session with Kennard. Blessed your heart my dear son, indeed Daddy & Mummy is very proud of you.

It is almost impossible for any of us to ever experience walking into the football field with the football players. I know I have never experienced it but today thanks to NIKE, this became a reality not only to me but to 40 boys from Sentul to experience what it is like to walking in to a match with the players.

NIKE organized this mock match at Stadium Shah Alam to give everybody a chance to experience the real football match. Thank you NIKE you help us make the difference!

A Gift of HOPE to the Needy

Nokia Siemens and Cargill volunteers spend their Saturday afternoon 20th June 09 to serve the community of Sentul by distributing groceries and participated in an activities for the children. A heartfelt thanks to them for giving their time, money and energy to see to the needs of the poor and needy. We are indeed grateful for the donation of 70 bags of 5KG rice by Nokia Siemens and 120 bottles of 2L cooking oil by Cargill for the Sentul community.

Despite the growth of CSR initiatives in Malaysia over the last 20 years, lack of reporting has kept most of the public ignorant of the contributions made. According to The Journal of Corporate Citizenship, within an 18-month period extending from July 2003 to December 2004, approximately RM82.1 million were given away to various charitable societies, programmes, orphanages and the poor, which reflects the fact that, for many Malaysian companies, commitment to CSR is expressed in terms of charitable giving.

But numbers alone can be deceiving. The key lies in accountability of the NGOs in dispensing the financial aid received. Better a penny wisely invested than a pound foolishly squandered.
